Peptide Nucleic Acids

This figure shows a schematic of the hybridization of peptide nucleic acids (PNA) and DNA. Peptide nucleic acid is an artificial DNA analogue in which, unlike the negatively charged backbone of the DNA, the backbone is neutral. This affects the overall charge of the molecule when the two are hybridized.
